Calling all copyeditors! The Calc Guide and the Draw Guide need *you*
to help with some last minute tidying up of the English before
publication.
Look at the Review List to find chapters that are not being worked on
by someone else. Please "retract" the chapter when you are working on
it; instructions are here:

Here are some of the things to look for when editing:
* Inappropriate use of passive voice.
* Terminology (for example, "menu" when it should be "dialog"; the two
items are different).
* Consistency of terms. For example, we use "button" for "push button"
type items with words on them, or leave the word "button" out
completely (no need to say "OK button" or "Cancel button"; just "OK"
or "Cancel" will do), and we use "icon" for toolbar items that have
pictures on them.
* Ideas expressed in two or more ways within a few sentences of each
other, when this duplication serves no apparently useful purpose.
* Clunky, convoluted, or over-wordy phrases, sentences, paragraphs.
For example:
"A click on this icon can transform a 2D surface into a 3D object."
Better:
"Click on this icon to transform a 2D surface into a 3D object."
Clunky:
"If this icon is active, it changes the object view to 3D. It does
not create a new object type just changes the appearance. With the
same button you can also go back to a 2D view. It is a switch allowing
both types of views to be shown. The actual object properties and
settings are not lost in the switching operation from one view to
another."
Better: (The first sentence repeats the previous sentence, so it can
be deleted.)
"This icon is a switch to change the view between 2D and 3D. It
does not create a new object type; it just changes the object's
appearance. The object's properties remain the same in both views."
