Putting it on the wiki would be best, I think; then other Mac users can
add to it as well and anyone can copy it to use in other docs. Let me
look around a bit and get back to you on where to put it on the wiki. In
fact, I wonder if something is already there, though not in the
Documentation area.
Clayton or TJ or someone: do you know?

The subject looks to me to be a natural fit with Appendix A (Keyboard
Shortcuts) of the GS Guide (new section / wiki page), with
component-specific keystrokes in the appendices of the component Guide.
If we get a good way to write once and use it multiply, we could put the
component specifics in the component Guide, and all of them in the GS guide.
Some of you *nix users would know better than I whether we need a
section for that, too. --/tj/

Thanks Jean. I noted with comments in the chapter I'm reviewing where the
keystrokes (and in some cases, menu paths) differ, and also compiled a small
list.
Is there some place we can maintain the list--aside from my just posting it
here?

Subject: Re: [authors] question about Mac versus other platforms

Hello all:
I'm still working my way through the review of Ch01 of the 3.2 Impress Guide
(and apologize that it's taking so long--my job and a few other obligations
have taken a lot of my free time away this week). As this is my first
contribution one problem has come up for me repeatedly: I'm working on a Mac,
and many keystroke combinations will be different on the Mac than other
platforms. Obvious examples are use of the Command key rather than Control, as
well as the F11 issue (which I think I saw referenced somewhere on the wiki as
a known difference).
My question is, is there some other document that tells Mac users "Some of your
keystrokes will be different"? I don't want to bother calling out all the places in
this chapter where the Mac keystrokes differ from what's in the text if this is already
covered elsewhere.
Sorry if this has been addressed previously!
Rachel,
Thanks for bringing this up. IMO it's an important topic.
We do have a few notes in the Getting Started guide about the different
keystrokes for Mac users. I think these are mainly in Chapter 1, but
there may be some in other places. The Writer Guide probably has some
notes, too. However, we do not have a full collection of them anywhere
in the user guides, and not everyone will read the Getting Started
book.
I think it would be very good to have a collection of the Mac keystrokes
to put somewhere in each book, so if you could make a list as you go
along, that would be very helpful.
