Cool stuff! I'm Daniel. I'm a PhD student in mathematics. I'm also a big fan of FOSS. FOSS rulez! > and if you are still looking for authors, I'd be only too happy to do > anything I can to help the project out. :) Oh, yes, absolutely. Right now we are focused on the user guide for the upcomming, ultra-cool, OOo 2.0. Writing a top-notch user guide is a lot of work. To make sure it's well done, we have this really clever peer review process. Each chapter gets reviewed several times, by several different people. At some point, it reaches publishable quality, and one of our editors publishes it. It's kind of like FOSS when you think about it ;-) The process is very rewarding. It's great to see the quality of each chapter get better on each iteration. Also, in the process, you get to meet people, chat, and make new friends. This project is friendly and positive, you'll like it here. Well... enough talking. Let's get you started. The first think you must do is get an account at OOoAuthors: http://oooauthors.org/ After you have an account, give me your username, either on-list or off-list. And I'll give you "Author" role. That means you get write access to the user guide project. The other thing you should do is read our style guide: http://oooauthors.org/en/authors/userguide2-pdl/resources/style_guide_v2.0.sxw Then you can start reviewing a chapter. If after reading this, you feel you want to read more, you can proceed to "Writing OOo Guides": http://oooauthors.org/en/authors/userguide2-pdl/resources/Writing_OOo_Guides_v2.0.sxw But that's optional. You can leave it for later if you like. I'll send you more instructions after you have the "Author" role. I'll be happy to help you get started. Cheers, -- Daniel Carrera | I don't want it perfect, Join OOoAuthors today! | I want it Tuesday. http://oooauthors.org |
