Hello Jean-Christophe,

I guess I'll have to start calling you Jean-Christophe to distinguish you from our chief editor, Jean Weber. :-)

I'm glad to see you here. As you know, a lot of people here are translating documents. I know the German team is translating English and French documents for example.

In any event, welcome aboard, good to have you here.

Cheers,
Daniel.

Hello everybody,

I am a French freelance translator based in Japan, and I a taking part in an open source project that aims at creating a robust computer assisted translation tool based on translation memories. We released 1.4.5 yesterday by the way...

I mention that because I was (well, I still am :) helping with the French translations where we were allowed to use Sun's Translation Editor.

The STE is not yet available publicly, but even if it were, it seemed to me a little complex for people who want to easily translate sx* or od* files.

So, well, after a few private exchange with Daniel (Carrera) I was convinced to subscribe here and talk about this wonderful tool that is OmegaT (some of you may already know/use it). Even though I am still in the course of writing the tutorial that I promised to Daniel !!!

Also, I am not only here to "sell" my stuff, but of course to find other complementary ways to contribute to OOo on the text side of things :)

Any idea ?

Regards,

Jean-Christophe Helary

ps: people who want to know more about the baby can check the following link, from where you can go anywhere in the OmegaT world: official page, reviews, SourceForge site, Yahoo support group etc etc...
