I've been working on a new front page for OOoAuthors. Tell me what you think:

Feel free to make suggestions and corrections.

In general, I like this approach. As you mentioned in a note to Nicu on this list, it's similar to the Wikipedia front page in that it makes all the languages equal. This is a good thing.

But I have some questions and concerns. Is what you have here intended to be the entire front page, or is it going to have some other information at the side or top or bottom? I think it needs a few words to say what OOoAuthors is. Casual visitors really have no clue what this website is about until they click on a language, and many will not do that.

Before this new front page goes live, we need to revise the content of the pages it links to. Otherwise, people will get dumped into the middle of things with no explanation of how they can get involved. The easiest solution is to use a lot of the material from the current front page on the new first pages of the different language sections. What's on the current front page can be easily revised for the first page of the English section, and then translated for each of the other languages. I'd be happy to work up a draft for the replacement English-section first page.

Janet has already mentioned the problem of the fonts that show up as question marks.

Cheers, Jean
