I think it needs a few words to say what OOoAuthors is.
How about now? I tried to make it discrete, but not hard to see.
It needs to be larger and not so pale. Discreet is good, but this is
in fact hard to see. (And if I enlarge it, then the language names
become huge and overwrite the logo and look terrible.)
The one thing I don't like about it is that it's only English, which
takes away from the idea of a language-neutral front page. Maybe
there's a way to make the text multi-lingual. I could try to do it
with Javascript, but JS is ugly and some people disable it to avoid
popups. I hope there is a clean CSS solution I can use.
I agree it's not good that it's only English. I thought of that
problem when I made my suggestion, but I do think that having some
explanation in English is better than none at all in any language.
I would like to know what other people think, though. Is a brief
explanation necessary or important?
When I asked Eric that question, he was very emphatic that we need
something. Here is his suggestion for the words (he had not seen yours
when he wrote this):
"Site for authors writing user documentation for OpenOffice.org."
I don't think Eric's version is better wording than yours, btw. I just
offer it as a suggestion from an outsider, someone who might be
visiting the site for the first time.
Cheers, Jean
I think the OOAuthors wording should go in the circle maybe under the
feather and Enthought logo. Most only see the top half of the screen
when trying to find out what the site is about.
