That is true. I said on this list a week ago (before the discussion about the new front page) that I have little time to spare, and I said what my priorities were -- finishing the chapters I am writing and editing other chapters.

All of us have other things to do, and it's perfectly understandable if you can't participate a lot, or at all. But that is no excuse for simply throwing rocks at other people's work without actually suggesting a way towards a solution. It's also no excuse to treat me like I just didn't pay attention to usability and not even tell me what the usability problem is. You also ignored the fact that making the page language neutral is fundamentally a usability issue. How would you feel with a front page that was perfectly well written but in German? Fact is, the non-Anglophone user base for this site is much larger than the userbase with images off and that trying to attend to them is a usability improvement. The attitude of your email was totally uncalled for.

I did not say "you don't care about usability". I said "you *seem to be* totally unaware" of the page's usability problems.

You certainly don't offer any solutions. That's very convenient. For that matter you seem to be totally unaware of the usability problems in the current page that are fixed by the draft I've worked on. The new draft is simpler, and more language neutral. But of course, it's easy to just criticize work instead of making suggestions. After all, making suggestions (I've made about 15 just this week) is more work.

I am eager to listen and attend to any suggestion. A lot of people have made suggestions and corrections (e.g. Nicu has made several) and I've made every effort to attend to each and every one of them.

A lot of people who don't have time to spare have pointed out problems in a way that leads to a solution without spending a lot of time making a new site and without shooting down ideas. Why can't you do the same?

Daniel.
