I am going to have very little time for OOoAuthors for the rest
of this year (other commitments are going to eat up my life), so
I expect to be doing less editing and more coordination and
chores like keeping the OOoAuthors pages at Docs up to date...
unless someone can take over some of that.
Uploading files to Docs will be a problem for me during November
when I'm in the USA on dial-up, so I hope someone will be able to
back me up. This isn't something that has to be done very often,
but the backup person does need to have working SSH access to OOo
and be granted developer status by Scott Carr.
On the editing side, several people (Lin Hall and Rob Scott come
immediately to mind) have been doing good work, and Chris Bonde
has been very helpful on what I call "production editing" --
looking for bad page breaks, missing cross-references,
inconsistencies and other stuff in the full Getting Started book
(weird stuff sometimes happens when a chapter file becomes part
of a master document). So I've been keeping up, but things have
been fairly quiet lately.
I've been hoping that someone would be willing to take over
responsibility for editing, coordinating, and producing at least
one of the books (Calc, perhaps?), but so far no one has.
One thing I'm really concerned about is the chapters I'm writing
or maintaining... I have too many. I really need to turn some of
them over to other people.
Cheers, Jean
