Hello list (and mainly it's administrator);

I am joining some other lists as well, but this is the first i've ever seen 
where I am asked to send read confirmations upon opening of some mails.

Now I'm not administrating a list by myself so I don't know the administrative 
settings, but maybe it is possible to terminate the requests for read 
confirmations?

Another way is to tell new members to deactivate this function.

Sorry, but I'm a little sensitive in such cases.... ;)
