I said (foolishly):
It installed OK in Ubuntu 5.10 (Breezy), but it won't shut down. It
will create, edit, and save a file, but when I try to close the
application, it won't close. I have to manually kill the process. It
doesn't take anything with it, but I'd say that's a showstopper ;-)
Actually, it IS a documentation issue. The OOo Linux documentation says
(something like) to be sure you run it as a user with permission to
modify files where it is installed. So after installation, I ran it
first using sudo, since I had installed it into /opt.
Trouble is, that then creates user files in ~/.ooo-dev2 but they are all
owned by root :-( so it's like running OOo from a CD ;-)
After changing permission of all those files, it seems to work OK. It
even shuts down when you click on the Close button ;-)
If you really DO need to run as a user with permission to modify the
location of where the main OOo files are located, then we need to
provide some step-by-step instructions. Otherwise, it should say to
make sure you are running with permissions to write to your own home
directory.
