I would be glad to work on the french version of the Base guide, but
didn't really manage to understand how the workflow goes here.
Are there Base parts that need translation into French from English ?
(I can do that), or some documents to write from scratch (this I can
do too but in french)
Also, it seems there's no dedicated liste for the french group ? Is
english the lang to use here ?

Welcome to our group! I am glad to hear from someone interested
in Base.
We (OOoAuthors) have nothing published for the Base Guide,
although some people have said they are working on it. So at this
time there is nothing to translate for that book. I hope someone
from that group will answer you about the status of their work.
We really do need a Base Guide!
We do have Chapter 10, "Getting Started with Base" in the Getting
Started guide.
