Hello Frank,

Welcome to the Dutch speaking part of OOoAuthors.
As you probably have noticed the Getting Started is slowly being translated into Dutch. Jo started with it, and I have taken over continuing. Chapter 3 is done and publicised, chapter 4 needs a final review from my side, chapter 5 is under review by Henk, a proof reader, after which I will finalise, chapter 6 is nearing completion. Maybe, it is a good idea to join also the mailing lists from nl.openoffice.org.

In the past, I could alter the status of these chapters myself, but for some reason I cannot anymore. Has it to do with some safeguarding of the site? Can anybody advise me who has these rights, so I can get in contact.

Best regards

Leo

Some extra information: I do access the site from SuSe 10.1 Linux : browser is Konquerer

My intention is in the Open Office group, to write / translate the manuals into Dutch. Despite the fact that all educated Dutch do speak more or less a form of English, people do feel more comfortable with manuals in their native language, specially when one is active writing documents in one's native language. While translating, i will have more attention to what the English manuals contains, so i expect to be able a positive contribution to the English/International versions as well.

I am Born in the Netherlands, a tiny country, in my time after secondary school we had a fair knowledge of the four neighbouring languages: Dutch, English, German and French. During my lifetime i travelled, worked in a variety of countries. With the result that i have gained some experiences with a few other languages. Bits of Kiswahili, Cantonese,Tagalog, Indonesian fit snugly in my language bag. My working life is a continuous battle between my passion (Music) and my capabilities:technology. In my computing time, i have written hardware manuals, and took care they were translated. Than it is an advantage to be able to check the technology part of many translations oneself. I would love to be able contribute to the OOO effort. My motivation is specially to have a full a version for the Linux market. I have seen little traffic in the authors user-faq mailing list. None actually: for a week. But maybe that has to do with the fact that i am technically bot allowed yet.. I understand that the problem can have been caused by a stricter anti-spam control. I hope some where there is a manual override possible

Kind regards, met vriendelijke groet,
