interesting ... Although I am using Pavel's m198 here, I have no 
problem at all. It would be interesting, if others with OOo 2.1 
under a different distro have this problem, too ... ;)

Maybe you could try "apt-cache search quickstarter". In Debian you 
find two different and separate packages (one for KDE, one for 
GNOME). Probably you need to install one of this?
And I have discovered 
http://packages.ubuntulinux.org/feisty/editors/openoffice.org. But 
I am not sure, if you will get the quickstarter running with 
it ... :(
