Jean mentioned mining the forum for topics, a great idea - in fact
one that a number of people ( moderators and heavy posters at
OOoForum ) are discussing at the moment. One difference being this
will not be limited to Base, but rather a team is forming with
different folks each taking a module. The goal will be to offer a
'Best of the forum' type multi-author blog. Most likely we will host
this on a new site running Drupal and use the tagging features of the
CMS package to tag each of the articles for end user searches. Once
the new site if up, we will be letting people know how they can
request a slot in the posting schedule, just in case anyone here
might be interested.
I missed that development at the forum. Thank you for mentioning it
here. I hope it won't take too long to go from a good idea to a
working site.
One final suggestion. There are a number of features ( or lack there
of ) that seem to cause the most problems for users. ( at least the
anecdotal evidence for such a statement is at the forum ) and if you
like I believe I have a good handle on what those issues are, so if
you are looking for subjects I would gladly pass that along to you.
I have started a page on the OOo wiki for planning this book. (If
someone has a suggestion of a better place to do this, that is easy to
use and available to all, please speak up.)

I have put the draft outline (from the OOoAuthors website) on the wiki
page. Anyone interested, please feel free to add or change things on
the page. You can annotate your addition/changes on the page, and/or
use the Discussion tab to discuss ideas with others working on this
book, and/or discuss ideas on this list (to reach a wider audience).
Input from potential users of this book, not just potential
contributors to it, is very welcome.
Linking to forum or list topics would also be good, especially if
forum topics are collected as Drew mentioned. Let's not wait for
anything to happen there (unless it happens quickly), but let's not
duplicate effort either.
Any and all ideas on the book's content, and/or ways to expedite the
planning and writing of the book, are welcome.

I made a substantial addition to

I am too tired to be entirely coherent. I hope that it is of some use
(what I said). Hmm, I should have mentioned that Drew Jensen has some
excellent materials and tutorials at the OOo Forum in the Base section.
