Sure, go ahead and delete them, with change tracking turned off while you
do that. In fact, since you're making such major changes to the file, you
might as well just accept all your own changes and carry on without
tracking the changes. If someone ever wants to see what was deleted, they
can do a Compare on the new and old version of the file and find out that way.
So I hope that at least I could download a sort of approved version so I
can continue afresh and have an easier time with the cross-references.
In the meantime I'm continuing with what I have here.
