Thanks, Michele. I'm away today (leaving in a few minutes) but I'll look at
it as soon as I can.
In general I like this chapter where the the difficult topic of styles are
introduced by means of examples, but I think that we need a more
"heavyweight" chapter 7 for people who want to harness the full the power of
styles. I am the first to claim that we need to strive for simplicity, but
if we want to serve with the guides also more advanced users we should also
describe the more complex functionalities.
I agree: that chapter needs a lot of work. Much of it was written when none
of us doing the writing really understood very much about some of the
styles, and no one knowledgeable has been available since then to improve
on it. If you, or anyone you know, can help, that would be great.
The same can be said about several other chapters in the Writer Guide, much
of the Calc Guide (especially the chapters that haven't been written yet)
and the Base Guide. Without knowledgeable people available to do the
writing, it's an unsolvable problem. Every time someone good comes along,
something happens and he or she is unable to continue with the writing.
