Hello Jean, I have revised chapter 6 of the Writer Guide. As you will see I am proposing an alternative example to introduce the reader to the use of list styles. The reason why I do not like to use programming language code is because this is indented if someone tries to follow the example with some real life code he/she will soon find out that the numbering becomes nested. Furthermore you also use a different paragraph style and these are two changes in one go. In my proposed text I emphasized that the as formatting goes the style of the list is that of the underlying paragraph, but just points this out while the example is a very straightforward numbered list. I have also put some more emphasis on the meaning of the various options in the Position page of the list style dialog as I found that many people are totally confused by it (including myself :-) ). I then finished the job copying and pasting from your proposed text which is as usual excellent.
I have revised also the rest of the document putting some notes here and there. In general I like this chapter where the the difficult topic of styles are introduced by means of examples, but I think that we need a more "heavyweight" chapter 7 for people who want to harness the full the power of styles. I am the first to claim that we need to strive for simplicity, but if we want to serve with the guides also more advanced users we should also describe the more complex functionalities. Cheers, Michele
