noticed that the text body font size is still set to 12pt. I didn't
check any of the other modified styles yet. In any event, if you
experiment with formatting these files, import those styles from the
edited file from Chapter 7 (or change them all yourself manually).
I think I did but clearly this is not the case. I will update the
template and then try to play with placement of the figures.
Alternatively, if you are going to upload an update of the template on
the OOoAuthors web site, I will wait for that.

You can use the styles from the last file (Chapter 7) that I edited.
At the onset, I generally save and rename the resulting file from any
file I edit. Also, I then import the styles from a file with known and
trusted styles (or template) into the new file.
Why don't you try creating some different styles and such while you're
dealing with that area anyway? Observing some practical examples of
page layout would be interesting to watch while they're being developed.
And afterwards, we can set up some different templates (one for each
style set). It wouldn't hurt having more than one around.

Michele: Be advised that when you import a style set into a file that
has a ToC already installed that it will erase the ToC. You then have to
set up the ToC again (and, possibly, the first-level subhead entry for
the page headers). I don't know why that occurs, but it's probably a
long-existing OOo bug.
If you also experience that, perhaps, you might write about that and its
workaround and apply it to the appropriate part of the Writer Guide (or
wherever else on the OOo site where it applies).
