The user needs the Author group and the Author permission in order to be
able to upload files.
Am I lacking a permission?
No. You've have to look on the right place :-) see above.
Please be carefully with the settings. It's a good idea to learn plone /
zope basics (http://plone.org) if You'll do the manager job for es.
