Be advised that the revised guide chapter template definitions haven't
been uploaded yet. Probably within a day or two--after more material or
exposition gets added.
The date of revision will be reflected in the filename. So, check that
date to determine if anybody has the most current version. [That's why I
didn't PING that at this time...]

The setting in Tools > Footnotes for "Autonumbering - counting" was
"per page" (which is probably the default). I changed it to "per
document". This also needs to be changed in the chapter template.
The chapter template was beefed up somewhat by adding a second-level
section concerning footnotes. The footnote section in the template now
carries an example of insertion and its bottom-of-page display. And the
footnotes are set up for per document numbering.
In addition, the tips, notes, and cautions were also given their own
second-level section. Ditto for a table section.
What the template really needs is a first-level section for properly
doing bulleted and numbered lists using dedicated paragraph and list
styles instead of our manually overridden version using the OOoTextBody
paragraph style. Maybe, I'll reverse-engineer the present manual version
into the types of list styles I used as a technical editor at the
embedded-microcontroller software sector of Motorola/Freescale
Semiconductor two years ago. They used FrameMaker tags where there was
an elaborate, but consistent, system of FrameMaker tags for the various
lists (nested two-deep).
