OK, this is on Windows XP. I uninstalled the beta, downloaded a fresh copy, and installed that. I am happy (and relieved) to report that it seems to be okay now; at least, I've got icons, and the dialogs aren't showing the weird misaligned text any more.
Now I can try actually doing something and see what breaks. :-) Cheers, Jean
