It seems that applying the template with the Template Exchanger still causes some of the images in figures to disappear. Perhaps a glitch in OOo or with the Template Exchanger extension? Not a big deal, as a workaround, I simply copied and pasted the missing images from the previous revision of the document into the one I've been working on.

Be careful. You may end up with two copies of the pictures. I've found that sometimes you can't *see* the pictures after using the template exchanger, but after saving and reopening the file, they reappear. Or, if I delete the frame containing the picture and its caption and then "undo" the deletion, the picture reappears. None of which is good, but it does mean the picture isn't gone, it's just not visible.

I suspect, but haven't done a thorough test to check, that there is a difference in behaviour between pictures anchored "to character" (as I prefer to do them) and those anchored "to paragraph" (the default). I think the "to character" ones behave themselves, but some of the "to paragraph" ones don't.

BTW, I've seen this in other circumstances (though I don't recall just which ones) where the template exchanger extension was not involved. If there is any correlation, it's probably with the bug in OOo that causes the outline numbering to goof up when one loads styles.
