Jean, I have a Mac. If I understand you correctly, the short answer is,
"Yes." When selecting Open or Save you get a standard MacOS X dialog box.

Second part of question (which I forgot to ask in my earlier note):
on a Mac, in OOo's Tools > Options can you select to use the OOo version
of those dialog boxes instead of the standard Mac ones?
