I just used the latest version of the Template Changer extension in OOo3.0 and discovered that the assignment of custom styles to outline levels did NOT disappear as has happened previously (due to a bug in the Load Styles function). Load Styles still has the bug.

Has anyone else (Gary? Michele?) tried this, and does it now work for you, too? If so, I'll remove the caution note from the section on extensions.

Works for me. I've been poking at this area since the Template Changer showed the name as My%20Template, which was fixed a while back. (It needed a ConvertFromURL function.)

What Andre is doing is saving an array of assignments before loading styles, then carefully restoring them afterward. If anybody uses another method of invoking Loading Styles (such as from the icon on the Styles & Formatting pane), it should be easy enough to tailor the two macros involved, to run one before and one afterward, and preserve the style/outline level assignments.

What bothers me is that neither his fix, nor the Load Styles function, make proper use of the assignment information *in the template*. At least, the TC now preserves the pre-existing assignments in the document. /tj
