O.K. :)

Well, I am not really sure about it, but ...

Plone is a free and open source content management system built on
top of the Zope application server. It is suited for an internal
website or may be used as a server on the Internet, playing such
roles as a document publishing system and groupware collaboration
tool.

Plone is something like an interface for the zope server running
behind it. So you have two possibilities to configure a web portal
like http://oooauthors.org. Each software has its own configuration,
so you are able to configure them separately.

ACL is an acronym for
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Access_control_list. In this case
(acl-group) you can "finetune" the access of a user (or the group)
to the plone interface.
But please do not asked me, why there is not only one possibility to
configure an CMS like plone ... ;)

I hope, I understood it right (and have explained it good enough ...
;) ). If I misunderstood something or if I am completely wrong, I
hope someone else more knowledgeable will jump in and help me (as
as well you ... ;) )
HTH
Thomas.

Wow, I'm being shot at from both sides. That means I *must* be right. :-)
