I think OOo calls those "comments" to distinguish them from notes. I tend to be quite imprecise when (hurriedly) writing emails on the subject, though I hope I use the correct terms in the books. :-)

MS Word uses the term comments for OOo notes. Too bad MS and OOo could not agree on uniform terminology, thus generating less confusion.
