Jean,
Thanks for that information. Ive been tweaking the memory settings and finally
got the frames to re-appear, though they're all quite cluttered. I guess I'll
have to reset all the frames to anchor-as-character and place them
appropriately.

Andy,
I have been working on the Introduction to Base chapter. The frames contain
screenshots and as Zoltan pointed out, they have been set as anchor-to-page. I
should have changed the settings first before reviewing other things, but I did
not know how frames work back then.

I was wondering if the anchor settings for the OOoFrame style should be changed
from 'anchor-to-page' to 'anchor-as-character' in the template.

I have seen this happen in long documents with lots of illustrations in frames.
Actually I can see the frames themselves (because I have all the text, object,
and table boundaries showing) but not the contents of the frames.

Usually if I close the file and reopen it and DO NOTHING FOR A MINUTE OR TWO,
the contents reappear in the frames. But not always.

I know several ways to get the contents to show again, but I don't have time
right now to find my explanation. When I do find it, I'll put it on the forum
because this is a common problem.

This first thing I would check is in Tools > Options > Memory. Changing some
settings, eg "number of objects" in the cache may solve the problem.

AFAIK, frames anchored "to page" only disappear when the doc becomes a subdoc
in a master doc.
