Stephen, if you'd like to tackle an update to Ch1, let me know and I'll
make a list for you of the items I think are out of date and need updating,
in addition to those that Barbara and Anthony identified.
Okay, great, I'll do it. It will be an excellent learning experience.
Thank you.
Stephen,
My list turned out to be less about out-of-date items and more about
things to be considered for improvements. There probably are more that
I can't think of right now. Have fun!

Calc Guide Chapter 1: Topics to be reconsidered
1) I have some wording (written for another purpose) on saving as MS
Word that might be useful when adapted for the section on saving as MS
Excel. Might be more clearly written.
2) Table 1 (moving from cell to cell using the keyboard) duplicates
info that is now in Appendix A, Keyboard Shortcuts (which did not
exist when Ch1 was first written), though Table 1 is much easier to
read than the equivalent in AppA. Might be better to remove from Ch1
and refer to AppA? Also improve AppA, which is much too wordy!
3) Reconsider a lot of the presentation of this chapter, which may be
too hand-holding for this book. Might be worth putting the detailed
hand-holding stuff into a separate how-to or tutorial document and
tightening up this chapter? Compare style with style of Ch1 of Writer
or Impress guides for ideas.
Note: The chapter on Calc in the Getting Started guide (Ch5) also
needs updating. Much of the material is the same in both places, but
GS includes bits from other CG chapters as well. I'm not sure which is
most up to date: CG or GS. And perhaps the hand-holding bits work in GS?
