If one of those extensions stops working when OOo is upgraded, then I

It's too minor an extension to include if it is no longer compatible
with the current version of OOo.
This extension works with ooo3 32 bit. I installed it the other days
and tried it out.

Ah, that may explain it then. I use OOo3.x 32 bit (on Linux). If that
is the issue (works on 32-bit but not 64-bit), it might be worth
keeping in the chapter but noting that problem. I don't have a strong
opinion either way.
Stephen, if you're curious and want to pursue this, you could ask on
the Calc forum about others' experiences. I don't have time to test it
myself right now.
