oh sorry, I forgot the most important part (which Dan mentioned ...
;) ): You have to put "sudo" in front of the command to become root
temporarily ... :(

Did you try my command above while root or as an user? Could you
repeat it with "sudo" in front of it? Like "sudo dpkg -i ..."?
