That's about right. Here's mine:
dir -fstype=smbfs,uid=501,gid=100,filemod=3664,dirmod=3775 ://server/share
Your problem is probably that you are not using the correct "smbmount"
script that knows how to tell the newer smbmount the proper options in
the old format.
