We had also stability problems, one related with NFS  and
SunOS 4.1.3 machines, which we were not able to solve.

Also there was a stability problem between Linux 2.0.36/2.2.5
SMP machines.

After the remark last week regarding a possible race condition,
we tried to bind autofs as a not loadable but fixed kernel module
and this seems to work until now.
