hi ed

we built debian-2.1 from its cdrom...
( no deb-2.2 official yet as far as i know )

we just applied "most of" the patches since ot keep it
current to deb-2.2 as much as possible...

the /etc/init.d/autofs does not have a version
number but is 7217bytes big

and am on the deb list...but not many complaints
about autofs there...which is good and bad ???

and similarly for rc.autofs for slack-7

-- seems most of the newer autofs startup script says
   if [ redhat]
        blah blah
   or [ debian ]
        blah blah
   else
        complain to the autofs...

which is not good ??
