Additional locks required, for one thing. You really don't want to do
this in the VFS; rather as a shim on the block device level.
I am not an expert on these things, so I won't try to argue about
whether this is true. Supposing you're right, and the best way to do
this job is at the block device level, do you think that is a feasible
approach for solving the problem?
