Hi all!

What happened with this thread? Is it resolved? Where's the solution?
Any new patches?
I'm having also tremendous problems with autofs.
We are running 2.2.18 + autofsV4 patch (why doesn't autofsV4 get into
the 2.2.x tree??? it would be really nice not to have to patch every
time a new kernel comes out!), autofs-4.0.0pre9 and util-linux-2.10r on
a SuSE 7.0 distro on 4 Pc's, 2 of them UP, the other 2 SMP. Only using
ext2, nfs vesion 3.

One problem is when we plug a laptop to our net and mount using autofs
the /home directory from this laptop. The mounting works without any
problems, but when the laptop goes down the automounter doesn't manage
to umount the previously mounted directories, so when the laptop some
time later comes up again it's impossible to get the laptop's exported
directories mounted again.

I'm also getting this message when autofs starts:
automount[7646]: >> mount: fs type none not supported by kernel
but I think this is a problem in the /etc/auto.net file from the SuSE
7.0 distro, or am I wrong in my assumption?

Comments? Suggestions? Solutions? Patches? Autofs Version 4 into 2.2.x?
Is autofs in 2.4.x working better?

Richard

Unix IS user friendly. It's just selective about who its friends are.
