Hello all,

I decided that having the /net feature of the Solaris automounter
also under Linux (I'm working as a Linux Beowulf admin, so perhaps
you know what I'm talking about) and built autofs-4.0.0-pre10
under RedHat 7.2.
Besides a small glitch in the spec file (it is necessary to link
/etc/init.d to /etc/rc.d/init.d for the install of the init script
to succeed) I found out that the init script is *not* aware of what
is in the automount: line of /etc/nsswitch.conf.
The machine I'm testing on acts as a NIS server for a bunch of slave
nodes running autofs-3, so the maps should *not* be used with autofs-4.
I wrote automount: files to nsswitch.conf (no nis keyword), nevertheless
the auto.master NIS map is accessed (which leads to error messages),
I had to stop ypbind to use /etc/auto.master only.

Before I start my own modifications, Ii'd like to ask: Are there
patches available to fix this behaviour cleanly? Or should I start
a sourceforge project (Jeremy won't like that...)?

Regards, Steffen
