We here have Sun, HP and Linux using indirect and direct NIS maps.
Using autofs-v4-pre10 we can use NIS maps, but the only solution for
the direct maps is either not to use the automounter (we have only few
directories from one server that needs direct maps, so they are always
mounted), or use indirect maps and links (mount under /extra and link
/extra/* under /, for more details, search the ML archive).
