Auuugh. Got me there.
One of the goals of the tidy up of the patch that I am working on is to
make it easier to implement additional maps. I expect to have a need to
use LDAP maps also in the future. I will spend some time on it once I
have sorted out the obvious bugs with my coming patch(s).

You can specify the map type in the master file. See the manpages.
Haven't used LDAP yet so I can't give specific examples. Sorry.
