Ahh, the fact that Ant didn't take my -verbose option should have been a
clue.  In my shell, "%*" translates to "*".  I replaced "%*" in ant.bat with
"%1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9 %10 %11 %12" and everything works.
