I don't follow this list closely, but when I do have a question about the code I tend to look into CVS and review the log. This is an open source project. You can't assume that the only developers that will be looking at the source revisioning history are active on this mail list. Poor logging on CVS is like undocumented code. What happens when 5 months from now your reviewing code and you forget why you made the change.
