I would suggest to wait until *others* try SVN out first. Remember that you loose all the ability to use IDEs and tools that people are used to after *years* of open source programming.

Myself, for example, I would not like to let winCVS go away without a serious replacement.

Don't get me wrong: I love Subversion and I want it to kick CVS's ass and kill it dead... but it's a slow process and making it any faster can do more damage than good.

I won't go as far as vetoing its adoption, but for now here a -1 on the adoption of SVN for avalon.
