Nicola,
regarding this I'm a bit all-or-nothing. Either we come up with
a method where every vote can be tracked, or we skip it altogether. The benefits outlined by Greg are reduced greatly
if we only keep a partial record - especially if we only keep track of the votes where we could be bothered to update the
STATUS file.
Yes, it should done for all votes.
I think you'll have very few votes in the STATUS file, and thatDunno. I don't find it hard to use if I don't have to commit every day.
that will be because there is a threshold to use it. This is why I'm -0 on it -- I'm personally convinced that it won't be
used.
I would expect that one would commit on start, after some days, and then the result.

These [Bugzilla, Wiki] don't have authentication, while CVS does.
Maybe even more important, Wiki is clumsy at notifying changes,
while Bugzilla is clumsy to use for votes, since votes must be done
too also on the mailing list.
Depends on what you mean by authentication - if your require the SSH level of authentication, then yes. But if Bugzilla's simple login/ password combination is enough, then Bugzilla has authentication as well.
I meant SSH. Not sure though if it's really that needed, but I feel so.
For Bugzilla, I didn't mean that votes should be held there.
Ok.
<snip-example/>I mean that when I start a [VOTE] thread on avalon-dev, I create a corresponding [VOTE] bug in Bugzilla. Then, I can summarize the progress of the vote and the vote itself in the bug comments. For example:
I find your example more difficult that the STATUS file.
Look at mine:
[VOTE] mail and entry in STATUS file.
SSH-commit
locally add +1s and -1s as the mails come through
after a couple of days
SSH-commit
after the vote
[VOTE RESULTS] mail and entry in STATUS file.
SSH-commit
Anyway, this is a tentative not a final solution.
I have experimented with it mysalf for some time, and if I keep track of the votes I start, it's very easy to use IMHO.
It's tried and tested, so I suggested we try and use it here too.
Let's see, if it fails e can find other measures, but I'm confident it can work out.
