Hello Berin,
May be I'm not clear describe my problem in previous message.
I need not only framework. Avalone, is really good framework. But I
need servlet engine (Tomcat), mail system (James), workflow (part of
Common), CORBA ORB (I think in hearest time OpenORB will be proposal
for Jakarta project).
Not a framework, an integration.
Ok, Cornerstone does have a wrapper to allow Tomcat to be integrated
to a certain degree into Phoenix. JAMES is built on the Avalon
architecture from the ground up. OpenORB, there were some rumblings,
and we will see. It is possible that OpenORB will be restructured to
use Avalon as there were rumblings about that as well.
Regarding Commons workflow, you will most likely have to write some
glue code yourself.
All this projects not compatible in all or same part (different
logging, configuration, etc).
I need brings for ERP for small, mid size companies.
In any way we has plan to use Avalone as base framework. Bu if we
perform integration of other projects in Avalone, we lost "future
version" support from Jakarta.
If you donate the glue code that you wrote (i.e. the Component/Block
wrappers for Workflow), it will be kept and maintained by the Avalon
team.
About, Commons and Excalibur, if its possible join this projects in
one. This way make users life more simply and Jakarta projects more
advanced. This way save developers resources.
That would be ideal, but the charter of Commons is a bit different
from Excalibur in that Commons is for code that does not require other
libraries, while Excalibur is for common Components that help in
developing Avalon based applications.
And not only for Avalone list, for all Jakarta project:
Please. Please, make all you projects compatible with each other!!!!
Thanks.
