Well debian has now seriously broken package for autoconf -
try to update you source again - I've commited my current workable
configure script.
But suggested way is to use autogen.sh before configure
(but this might currently fail with unstable Debian - I'm just wondering
why some Debian maintainers believes unstable should be unstable...)
