But what would you do when you want to build and use some older software -
you have to uninstall the current -dev version - install old version
(this will remove couple other packages as well)
then you build your old software and you have to update to new -dev packages
together with rest of removed packages.
E.g. xmms plugin is/(maybe was) using avifile0.53 for a long time - but
header files are incompatible but both sits in /usr/include/avifile
I think avifile0.6 is more natural name
