if you need to use autogen.sh, why don't you try to make it compatible with 
older version of the autoconf/autogen packages?
anyway in the prevoius cvs version i got error
"automake: configure.in: required file `./ltconfig' not found"
but the compilation was fine

even now...the configure seems to do 3 o 4 times the same thing...but the 
compilation goes fine.
