Hi,

I thought this part of avifile will be untouched because it's always claimed
to be not maintained?
I don't know what you changed, but with avifile version 0.6.0.20011003
I could listen to mms (=asx) streams! I was very happy that this works with
aviplay as I always was very angry about media player streams which I couldn't
listen to with linux...

Now with current cvs version (two days old I think), I get a segmentation fault!
$ tsocks aviplay cc_smart.asx
Available CPU flags: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat
pse36 mmx fxsr
300.694000 MHz Celeron (Mendocino) processor detected
MediaReadHandler: FATAL: Not an AVI file!
Href: "mms://146.101.66.190/t"
Segmentation fault

When I give the url as parameter, I get this:
$ tsocks aviplay mms://146.101.66.190/t
Available CPU flags: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat
pse36 mmx fxsr
300.694000 MHz Celeron (Mendocino) processor detected
Cache AVI: FATAL: Could not open file
Testing mms://146.101.66.190/t
Server 146.101.66.190, port 80, filename mms://146.101.66.190
WARNING: could not resolve server name ( Interrupted system call )
Segmentation fault

I wouldn't bother you with that if it wouldn't have worked well before.

I need to go over a socks server but that was never a problem for aviplay
(nor for any other program ;)

So, what has happened?

Other problems that I've got with aviplay not able to play some avi with
hardware acceleration turned on, I won't talk about, because it seems to be
a bug of my X driver (siliconmotion) and not a bug of aviplay!

But another thing that was a little annoying was the error message about not
finding the font Adobe-Times, although it's surely existing.

That's all for now :-)
Thanks.

Greetings,
Siegfried Wagner.
