And isn't there any conection between some other system upgrade
(e.g. kernel - sound daemon  or other thing ??
You are probably using SDL audio driver - you 
may try OSS audio (by manual switch in .avirc - search for SDL,OSS,noaudio)
and use OSS emulation by alsa driver.

Ohh my - alsa - thing I do no use - so it's left to SDL alsa handlin completely
- so maybe some change in SDL library ?

export AVIPLAY_DEBUG=1 should be printing some synchronization infromation
maybe you could send me log of this - but I could hardly help
as I do not have such card - I suggest to contact alsa maintainer for
your card.
