I tried to compile avifile on a RH7.1 and get the folowing output :

> cd /root/dev/avifile-0.6.0.20011207
> ./configure
loading cache ./config.cache

configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C++ compiler

I have gcc 2.96.
It's strange because I can compile 2.4 kernel without any problem.

Can anyone tell me what to install or configure to compile avifile ?

Thanks.

Aymeric
