This might be a bit off topic, and if you feel that your answer is even more OT, then please reply privately. ;)
I have a computer that's just barely able to play high resolution movies in real time with aviplay. What I'd like to do is to have a fast machine decode the video from the avi file, encode it in a less cpu-intensive format and stream it through a 100mbit-net to this fairly slow (k6 400) computer, which decodes the stream and displays it. I tried just running remote X through the net, but it's not fast enough. Perhaps with gigabit ethernet... I've had a look-around on the net and found a few programs, but I haven't found out how to do all the steps involved. If you have any tips, links, pointers, please let me know. _______________________________________________ Avifile mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://prak.org/mailman/listinfo/avifile
